dinner @ pacific house, richmond
went with ida, ivy and ian to richmond, which is about half an hour by car from clayton. had dinner at pacific house located at 240 barker's road. it is one of those eating houses with roast ducks hanging in the window. you can always expect a crowd of people waiting around for a table in the evening. fortunately, we had made a reservation.
it is small and crowded place, with laminated tables placed so close to another, you rather not go to the toilet if you could help it. the reason everyone comes here is for the seafood and the roast duck. the waiter places a small bowl of soup in front of each diner the minute they sit down. there is a menu but you can actually make your choice by referring to the brightly coloured cards on the walls that list the specials. the cards are in english and mandarin. the cards remind me of the chinese restaurants in hong kong and malaysia.
we had pork ribs, claypot tofu, soft-shell crabs and roast duck filled with taro. in most chinese restaurants in melbourne, taro or yam is a choice filling for meat dishes.
