melbourne walk - sports & entertainment
this morning, i did the 4.75 km walk which took me from federation square, past birrarung marr and melbourne's famous sports precinct - rod laver arena, vodafone arena, olympic park and melbourne's sports and entertainment centre - through the royal botanic gardens and back by the southbank of the yarra river.
although it was past noon when i left the botanic gardens, it was still a cool 23 degrees celcius with a light breeze blowing. during the course of the walk, i passed under the swan street bridge twice and walked across the morell and the princes bridges.
as i walked along the riverside, i watched rowers from the various boat clubs, which have their boat sheds along boathouse drive, practising along this stretch of the yarra river. i also came across a steady stream of students - must be from a school nearby - doing their practice run on the 'tan' track.
there are about six self-guided walks which has the visitors' centre at federation square as its starting and ending points. i will take a different walking route on another day.
