royal botanic gardens of melbourne

the royal botanic gardens is open from 7.30 a.m. daily but closes at varying times, depending on the seasons. in summer, it is open till 8.30 p.m. but in the winter months, it closes at 5.30 p.m.

there are two cafes within the garden grounds, one is the terrace tearooms and the other is the observatory cafe. there was music provided by a harpist at the terrace tearooms. there are a few quaint pavilions in this 36-hectare garden.

quite a number of members of the british royal families have trees planted in their honour in this garden.

there is the ian porter foundation children's garden where children can explore and learn about the wonderful world of plants. like the jacob ballas' garden in singapore, there is also a water play area.
